Why a good sleep - will help you remember your interview points
Peak Performance ..Why a Good Nights’ Sleep is Critical
for how you perform…. in a presentation, an interview or your job in general
I had a client tell me they stayed up for a good portion of the night preparing for an interview
…. but then did not do well articulating themselves.
In fairness, “younger me” did that with business plan presentations (staying up till 2am) to prepare
I’m stepping a little out of my typical “career topic” lane….but stay with me - it does relate to careers
I have an advantage that CORPORATE ME did not have.
I have more time to listen to other’s (informed) perspectives and reflect
And then…. I relate what I learn or hear to my clients’ careers in the corporate world
Here is what I heard in a PODCAST on SLEEP….
We lock in our recent learning (into memory) when we sleep
So, if you have done all that practice for the interview or presentation
……and don’t get a proper sleep
…..you are potentially disadvantaging yourself,
….. by not locking in your preparation to memory.
We all know sleep is important….but so many of us don’t prioritize it.
So, if you are interested look up the Nov 17th podcast episode from DOAC (The Diary of a CEO)
and his interview with sleep expert Dr. Matthew Walker.
…and there is much more to SLEEP beyond (locking in memory)
CAVEAT – the DOAC podcasts are excellent but long which is tough when you are busy with balancing work & life responsibilities.
I break them down into segments and listen when I walk or go for a run (AKA slow jog)
