Use SID for Difficult Conversations
Has someone upset you at work? So tell them!
Difficult Conversations….. are well… “Difficult”
Most of us don’t want to engage in difficult conversations.
So many of us Suffer in Silence when someone or something has upset us.
And quite frankly…
…there seems to be a lot more of stories of poor workplace behaviour.
Chalk it up to any number of things – work pressure, anxiety…
And there’s lots of reasons to not have a difficult conversation.
Perhaps we don’t know how to address them…
Or can’t find the words….
Need Help?
Here’s a quick little formula to help you find the words
It’s a structure I call….
SID
Situation - State the issue (provide example)
Impact - State the impact on (you, others, project, plan)
Desired Outcome - State the desire to resolve linking to mutual goals
If you have a significant situation with some high stakes,
I have a longer 10 step process that I would be happy to share.
